Preaching Series – The Methodist Quadrilateral: (Scripture, Tradition), Reason, & (Experience)
We are called to love God with our minds as well as with our hearts. To the best of our ability we need to think things through in the light of reason. This means becoming aware of different points of view, and using our own critical thinking to make sense of God’s world
Notices
* The new reading rota covering May & June is on the Oasis noticeboard; please add your name to those dates you are available to read. Thank you.
* Karibuni Trust: In the absence of John Cotton, Chairman of Karibuni Trust, the following letter has been received from Joy Murphy: “John Cotton is away in America, so I am replying on behalf of him and Karibuni Trust, to thank Northwood Methodist Church for the very generous donation of £1,076.30 towards the Athiru Gaiti water project. I know many people were involved in raising this money – will you please pass on our thanks and assure them that the money will be well used in an area where water is a very precious commodity. The school will be able to sell the clean water to others in the community at a low price and this will give them much need income, as well as having huge benefits for their health. As you know, the borehole at Njoro has made an enormous difference to the health and wellbeing of the children in that project and everyone in the area, and the same will happen in that area of Maua. Please pass my greetings to all at Northwood – I have very fond memories of being there with you all! Every blessing, Joy ”
* At the next SDDG we will watch and discuss the film ‘Prayers for Bobby’ 2nd June Venue 2 Wild Oaks Close, HA6 3NW [01923 821 492]. This is an absolutely ‘must- see’ item. Harrowing, but ultimately uplifting. All are welcome.
* Ladies In the Night Walk (5.5 or 9 miles) Friday June 6th – A group of ladies from NMC are once again joining the hundreds of people circumnavigating Northwood under cover of darkness to raise money for Michael Sobell House, our local hospice at Mount Vernon Hospital. Anyone can join them, including well-behaved dogs, so please speak to Karen, Daphne or Cicely for details.
